Rabac

Rabac is a small, magical fisherman town located in the southeastern part of the Istrian peninsula and dating back to the 19th century. The fishing and sailing culture remains evident at each step of the way. However, with its typical Mediterranean charm and stunning surroundings, Rabac has transformed into a true tourist destination and received the flattering name of „The Pearl of Kvarner Bay”.

The town’s magic lies in its gorgeous pebble stone beaches that merge with the rich Mediterranean vegetation. In fact, Rabac is the proud recipient of the Blue Flag award, an eco-label presented by the international Foundation for Environmental Education with the goal of promoting water quality, and environmental education and information.

Surroundings of Rabac

Such a small town, and yet there is something for everyone. Rabac has a rich cultural offering with several summer festivals, such as the European Sailing Championship, Sailing Regatta, Summer Carnival, Fishermen Festival and others. Most of the festivals are held on the main promenade (Riva) and are a perfect way to get a feel for the local culture and cuisine. For the true party-goers, there is Rabac Summer Festival, which hosts some of the world's most renowned techno DJ's. If you are looking for a more active vacation, there is a wide range of options including diving, parasailing, jet-skiing, tennis, mini-golf, beach volleyball, biking, hiking, paintball and many others.

Aside from activities in Rabac, there are number of sightseeing opportunities just a short hike, drive or boat ride away. We would highly recommend a daily boat trip to the neighboring island of Cres.

You may even have a surprising encounter with a family of dolphins on your way! On top of a hill and just five kilometers from Rabac lies the old town Labin, with narrow cobble stone streets, arts and crafts galleries, a museum and romantic restaurants. If you are up for an adventure, you can even take the trekking route from Rabac to Labin. In the neighborhood of Dubrova (in Labin), there is a „Bijela Cesta“ („White Road“) park with more than 70 sculptures by local and international contemporary artists.
